There were so many lorries on the road, the entire slow lane was full as far as the eye could see.
The skies were looking greyer and greyer until the heavens opened, I managed to pull over to the side of the road and do a disco dance putting my wet weather gear on. Ten minutes of torrential rain, and 20 minutes of road spray from the trucks.
I ended up in a camp in a place called Birkau, I’m the only one here and it only cost €10.
I awoke to rain, yet again. I waited until it eased, packed up, put the wet weather gear on and hit the road.
Heading west towards France I went.
Not so much wind today, lots of roadworks, lots of lorries and lots of rain. Temperature, a high of 18 and a low of 13°C. Isn’t this supposed to be summer?
Clocked over 550 km today.
Arrived at a camp just as it started to hose down. Waited under a tree until the tree could hold no more water and then dispersed it down the back of my neck, yuk!!!
I put the tent up in the rain and dried the inside.
The rain stopped, I cooked dinner, washed up, packed up, oiled my chain and called it a day!
Now to try out the repaired inflatable pillow!!
I awoke to glimpses of sunshine. Nice to pack up in the dry, though the tent and some of the gear is pretty wet.
I headed south east to France.
