Once back in England there was one last place I wanted to visit before the end of my trip, it was the place that inspired the café racer motorcycles of the fifties. It was where the rockers would come to race. From This place they would head down and back the North Circular Road, near Wembley in London. The first one back was the winner. They would modify their bikes and come back to see who was the fasted bike and rider in town. This place is the famous Ace Café. It was a place I had always wanted to visit.
This trip has been a great adventure from the beautiful scenery of Norway, the magnificent Atlas Mountains in Morocco, the tranquillity, vastness of the open spaces. Observing ancient cultures, riding a camel through the Sahara Desert and staying the night in a Bedouin tent, catching up with family and friends. So many memories created, many highs and a few lows. These adventures incorporate all the things I love, motorcycles, history, scenery, cultures, challenges and the unknown
Now homeward bound to the place I love the most
It's another year and another adventure,
I’ve been in England for over a week staying with family getting my bike (James) ready for this year's trip.
James has had all fluids drained and replaced; valve check done. Still in spec, oil and filter replaced, new tyres, chain and sprockets, all bearings and joints lubed.
I had an engine check light that remained on. I traced it back to a secondary air intake solenoid. Replaced that and all is go now.
To test the bike, I rode to Cosworth RAF Museum, free entry, but had to pay for the carpark. Excellent facility if you’re in to aircraft.
Today I left Stafford and rode mainly motorways to Holyhead in Wales. It was raining and a low of 12°C, bbbrrrrrr. I see why the leek is Wales national flower!
From Holyhead the ferry trip took three and a half hours, the sea was choppy.
Once off the ferry, it was straight to a campground where I set up camp All done and dusted by 8pm
The only way from the ferry to Dublin is via a tolled tunnel, €12
